p.s. Thumbnails/storyboards and illustrator files will be uploaded SOON! Just currently struggling with grad show related stuff first =( But for now, here is the final brief to skim…
Working Title:
10 Seconds of Your Life (that you’ll never get back)
Overview:
In order to present the student projects for the “10 Second Leader” from the winter term semester of 2007, the theme of the DVD menu/chapters is focused on the significance of 10 seconds to any individual. The title, “10 seconds of your life (that you’ll never get back)” mocks the fact that these projects are approximately 10 seconds in length and takes only a brief moment of your time to view. However, in reality, it obviously took more than a mere 10 seconds to actually create and design, and though the theme pokes fun at irony, those who have worked closely for and with these projects will actually appreciate every second spent working and viewing. So yes, it is 10 seconds within your life that you’ll never get back, some will argue that it was time well wasted, while others can say that it was time well spent.
Goals and Objectives
The main goal for this project was to have fun with the theme and to reflect the various mindsets that both students, instructors and spectators can sometimes overlook when it comes to projects such as this. Overall, my objective was to present something that wouldn’t come off as ridiculing, but rather as humorous and slightly subjective. Especially since this is the end of the year, despite the stress and workload, I wanted to add some humor by bluntly mocking the concepts of time, effort and appreciation.
Audience
Students, profs, and anyone who can relate to the theme.
Key Message
Ten seconds may seem short, it is up to you as an individual to make the most out of it. It is true that you’ll never get that brief period of your life back, so make it count (and in this case, “count down”…lol)
Content Planning
The content will introduce a random creature, something that I honestly whipped up one day while doodling in my sketch book. He personally represents ‘procrasination’ and the feelings of ‘time’ becoming lost and unrecoverable (creature will be snoozing, stall at times, show little enthusiasm, and becomes grouchy after its awakened and ends up attacking/charging at the viewer, etc). The video clips after each transition will be organized in 3 pages (about 5 vids on each). Also, rather then list the videos by the designer’s name, they are listed by the “title” of the actual projects in no specific order. This will entice the viewer to select videos by titles that spark their interest or based on curiousity…whatever the reason, the viewer will be making a conscious decision on how they are spending their next “10 seconds” and whether they are aware of it or not, will partially factor how they form their expectations towards each clip. Will it be worth the time or just another 10 seconds wasted?
